Post Tour Overview
Chengdu, Xi’an, Beijing September 22 - 28, 2017
We can’t miss the opportunity to visit Pandas while in China! Chengdu Research for Giant Panda Breeding (known as Panda Base). Gain fascinating insight into the progression of baby pandas to adult pandas. Admire the delicate newborns in a special infant panda area. Continue to enrich your knowledge by observing adolescent pandas between the age of one and five. Sichuan cooking experience will be a fun evening of cooking, sharing and exploring the Sichuan Cuisine Museum.
Xi'an is considered the cradle of Chinese civilization. Marvel at the most significant archeological excavation of the 20th century, the Terracotta Warriors. 7,000 life-sized figures in ordered rows. Including the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum it is the largest imperial tomb in China with richest burial objects. Xi’an is also the Eastern terminus of the Silk Road. There is a vibrant Muslim community featuring the Great Mosque from built in 792 and the Beiyuanmen Street Market. Some good shopping here! The Wild Big Goose Pagoda will give us insight into the Buddhism in China.
Our tour culminates in Beijing with a walk on the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall is the longest
man-made structure on Earth, spanning nearly 4,000 miles of China's northern frontier. We plan to visitthe Wall near Mutianyu a location that offers either a stair climb or a cable car ride to the top of the Wall. We will take a Hutong Rickshaw Tour through a preserved area of Beijing including a visit in the home of a local family. Tiananmen Square is the largest public plaza in the world, erected in 1417 at the height of the Ming Dynasty. There are several impressive monuments including the Great Hall of the People, the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong and the famed ceremonial gateway. The Forbidden City/ Imperial Palace/Palace Museum is a construction comparable to the Pyramids in Egypt. The entire site is comprised of 800 buildings with more than 9,000 rooms.
